These patients tend to experience digestive or inflammatory symptoms throughout the body when they consume gluten. These symptoms go away when they stop gluten consumption.<span class=\"custom-citation\" data-id=\"ref-4\"><\/span><span class=\"custom-citation\" data-id=\"ref-5\"><\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gluten can cause a leaky gut in anyone, whether they have celiac disease, gluten sensitivity, or not. They could also come from other causes. This can cause severe gut distress. Try to avoid gluten contamination in the kitchen, restaurant, and the workplace.<span class=\"custom-citation\" data-id=\"ref-2\"><\/span><span class=\"custom-citation\" data-id=\"ref-4\"><\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Be on the lookout for labels for gluten-containing ingredients and certified gluten-free foods.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Packaged food should have the following <span class=\"custom-citation\" data-id=\"ref-13\"><\/span>: <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>A gluten-free label<\/strong>. To be considered gluten-free, a food must contain less than 20 parts per million (ppm) of gluten. Regardless, double-check the ingredients. Remember that \u201cwheat-free\u201d does not always imply \u201cgluten-free.\u201d<\/li><li><strong>Examine the allergen list.<\/strong> Wheat, soy, egg, nuts, and milk are all common allergens. The absence of allergen in the ingredient list does not imply that a product is gluten-free.
