5 Obvious Signs You Need A Digestive Cleanse

Most of us have heard of cleansing before. Some of us have incorrect notions of what cleansing is all about however.

Many people view cleansing as a weight loss tactic – something to do when you want to burn fat faster before you begin a diet. Or they view it as something you must do if you’ve been eating really unhealthy or have been smoking and drinking for years. They believe it’s a way to purify your body and get it back on track.

While these are all very good reasons why you may do a cleanse, they are definitely not the only reasons. There are many signs that can indicate you need to do a digestive cleanse.

By looking for these reasons, you can pinpoint whether you’d benefit. Do keep in mind this list is not exhaustive however, so there may be other signs or symptoms that you should be getting your digestive system in order. These are just the main ones.

1. You’re Run Down All The Time

When is the last time you felt truly good? Has it been a while? If you feel run down all the time, this is a very good indication something is wrong.

While in some cases, you can point to the reason why you feel run down. Maybe you are going through a financial period of hardship, which has left you ever stressed out. Or, perhaps you lost your job and are now on the search. These can really wear a person out.

But if your life is as it always has been but yet, you’re exhausted – both physically and emotionally, something is up. Address this before it becomes more serious.

2. Gassy And Bloated – Even When You Haven’t Eaten

The next sign that a cleanse should be in your future is if you are constantly feeling gassy and bloated. While some degree of bloat is normal after eating a large meal, especially one that contains a high dose of fiber, if you are bloated even when you haven’t finished a meal, this is a sign that’s clear as day you need a digestive cleanse.

In many cases, the reason you are bloated is because you still have food left sitting in your gut, possibly rotting away. This is leading to stomach distension and just a general feeling of being unwell, not to mention high levels of gas.

Most people will find that after a good cleanse, these issues clear up almost immediately. Pay attention to your digestive system because it’s almost always trying to tell you something.

3. You Have Bad Breath Or Body Odor

Have you noticed that your breath is leaving something to be desired lately? Do you find people standing further away from you lately and have a feeling it could be due to your scent?

Body odor and bad breath are both very embarrassing problems and clearly something that no one wants to have. Yet, if you haven’t done a digestive cleanse in a while, you very well may be suffering – and in some cases, not even realize it.

Toxic build-up can lead to greater body odor, which can come out despite wearing deodorant or perfumes. In fact, often wearing perfume or cologne to mask it only makes the problem worse.

4. You’re Gaining Weight

Another clear sign that indicates that it may be time for a digestive cleanse is if you are dealing with ongoing weight gain. Weight gain is frustrating at best and for some individuals, can be devastating at worst.

Usually this weight gain happens despite you not eating any more food or even sometimes when you are intentionally trying to diet to lose weight. No matter how hard you try, it seems, your body just isn’t letting you let go of the fat.

Usually this is the result of your metabolism running sluggishly slow, which means your body isn’t processing carbohydrates for energy nearly as well as it should and is just storing them instead. This goes hand in hand with having very low energy levels.

If you are not breaking down the foods you eat for energy as you should, you’ll feel it – and your body weight will suffer.

While there are other reasons that could be leading to weight gain such as a thyroid issue, doing a digestive cleanse is relatively quick and easy so is a great first defense. If that doesn’t work, then you can investigate other options. For many people though, it’s just what they need to kick-start their weight loss plan.

Do keep in mind though that this will only work for those who are eating a reduced calorie diet and are still not seeing weight loss results.

If you are over-consuming calories and not losing weight, doing a digestive cleanse is not going to help you lose weight on its own. It does not have any magical properties that somehow mean you won’t have to diet. You do need to consume fewer calories but if you have a digestive system that’s in good working order, it makes things move along much smoother.

5. You’re Not Sleeping

Finally, lack of sleep is a double-edged sword. If your body is dealing with toxic overload then you’re going to struggle to fall asleep at night and the lack of sleep itself makes your body less capable to tolerate stress, so this further compounds the problem.

If you are getting fewer than 7 hours of sleep each night despite actually being in bed for longer (in other words, you’re doing a lot of lying in bed at night awake), it’s time for a digestive cleanse.

This can help get your system working properly again, resulting in less stress on the body, which then helps you have an easier time falling asleep.
