Today we’re here to talk about an important concept – one that very few people ever even think about as they go through their health and fitness progress.
Chances are, you’ve heard by now that it’s critically important that you stay hydrated all the time. Your body needs so much water and other fluids on a daily basis in order to survive. Cut off this supply and you’ll last days at most.
As such, you may be making an effort to drink more water throughout the day.
Now, for those who are really health conscious, you may have made the step away from drinking out of plastic bottles that are not BPA free. This has become a very important topic in the last couple of years as people are becoming more aware of the dangers of drinking from these plastic bottles as chemicals from the plastic are leeching into the water.
This is a great start. Focusing on hydrating your body and not consuming water coming from plastic bottles (unless it explicitly states it’s BPA free) are two very critical things.
Those who have been really doing their research may choose to take this one step further. Now, rather than just avoiding plastic, they’re choosing to drink only distilled water as well. They purchase a water filter to keep in their home or purchase filtered water in large bottles at the grocery store on a regular basis. This is basically water that has had its impurities removed through the process of boiling it and then condensing the steam. This will eliminate excess chemicals or toxins that may be found if you were drinking regular tap water.
Whichever method you choose to get your distilled water, you may now feel like you have this issue covered. You are putting nothing but the best water in your system.
But are you?
What we’re here today to talk about takes this one step further. You see, when you drink regular water (whether or not its distilled), you are putting a substance into your body that has a charge.
Regular water has a positive charge and this positive charge is going to cause oxidation to occur. What’s oxidation?
Think of oxidation as the rust on a car. It’s basically going to slowly wear you down, eating away at tissues and causing damage. In your body, oxidation is what primarily causes the effects of aging.
Those who suffer from high levels of oxidation tend to age much faster, while those who do their part to protect against oxidation will notice they stay looking and feeling younger, longer.

Eat the wrong foods in your diet and you can quickly accelerate the oxidation process. As most people who are reading this right now know, what you eat can have a significant influence on the process of aging.
So right now, you have oxidation coming at you from a variety of sources. Some you can control, others you can’t.
Doing your best to take control of those sources of oxidation that you can control will ensure that you are keeping your body as healthy and fit as possible.
Now, you can go one step further by managing your water intake.
If you stop and think about it, you’re putting a high volume of water into your system each and every day. If this water is causing an increase in the speed of aging, you’ll really be moving yourself forward in the wrong direction quickly.

So what are some of the signs that you may already be experiencing a high level of oxidation in your life?

Constantly feeling aches and pains? That could also be a sign of oxidation at work. Joint pain that never seems to let up (or has become chronic) along with muscle aches that occur even with the slightest of tasks can indicate you are experiencing more oxidation than you should be.
- Increased appearance of fine lines and wrinkles
As oxidation is a sign of rapid aging, you’ll also notice the increased appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. You may also start to notice changes in your hair color as well with the appearance of grey hair starting to show.

- Constant headaches or migraine occurrence
If you’re experiencing ongoing headaches or suffer regularly from migraines, this too could be indicative of too much oxidation in your life. While psychological stress can also cause frequent headaches so it’s important to rule that out, when they happen to be chronic, usually it’s more related to oxidative effects.
- Increased risk for infections
Finally, with increased oxidative stress you’ll also put yourself at a higher risk for infections as well. If these infections strike and your body is already in a weakened state due to the impacts of oxidation, this can increase your chances of becoming seriously ill.
So as you can see, oxidation is something to take very seriously. Making sure you are doing what you can to combat it will position you far better for overall health, well-being and longevity.
Now that you have a better idea of what oxidation is and where it comes from, what can you do to put a stop to it?
